Co-Founder & CEO
Hazem Barakat co-founded BPE Partners in 2006 with a vision to capitalize on his industry and operational expertise by investing in domestic businesses with growth potential. He is the chairman of BPE Partners and BPE Holding and is a member of BPE Partners’ investment committee. Additionally, Mr. Barakat sits on the board of MNHD, Total Egypt, Al-Ismaelia, and PGESCo. Prior to founding BPE Partners, he co-founded Miraco-Carrier, one of the region’s leading air conditioner manufacturers, as well as Engineering Plastic Manufacturing, a leading plastics manufacturer.
Mr. Barakat holds a BSc in Mechanical Engineering from the New York Institute of Technology and is a member of the Egypt-based American Chamber of Commerce, the British Egyptian Business Association, and the Egyptian Businessmen’s Association. Previous directorships include the Egypt-US President’s Council, the Egyptian Economic Forum, and the Advisory Council of the School of Business, Economics, and Communication at the American University in Cairo.
Co-Founder
Aladdin Saba founded Beltone Financial in 2002 and co-founded BPE Partners in 2006. Mr. Saba was also a co-founder of Hermes Financial, which became EFG Hermes in 1996, after working as a Senior Portfolio Manager at Kidder, Peabody & Co. Inc. in New York. He is a founding member of the Egyptian Investment Management Association and the Egyptian Capital Markets Association and was on the Board of Directors of the Central Bank of Egypt, the Egyptian Exchange, GB Auto, and MNHD. Mr. Saba holds a Bsc in Biomedical Engineering from Cairo University, an MBA from Wharton, and an additional Master’s degree in Biomedical Engineering from the University of Pennsylvania.
Chief Investment Officer
Dr. Abdel-Monem Omran joined BPE Partners in 2006 after holding various positions at Douwe Egberts, Industrial Bank of Kuwait, and Helarb Management, Switzerland, an investment management firm concentrating on M&A in Europe. He previously founded an advisory firm, Egivest Consulting, to manage one of the first private equity funds in Egypt (Arab Investment Company). Dr. Omran is a founding member and board member of the Egyptian Private Equity Association. Dr. Omran holds a BSc in Chemical Engineering from Cairo University and a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of California.
Chief Financial Officer
Ahmed Madbouly joined BPE Partners in 2006 and is responsible for all the financial and treasury affairs of BPE Partners and its managed investment vehicles. Mr. Madbouly has a long and extensive track record in finance and accounting and has served in senior management positions at Miraco-Carrier, Nile Valley Gas, SADAFCO and KIPCO. Mr. Madbouly holds a BA in Accounting from Ain Shams University.

Mostafa El-Anwar joined BPE Partners in 2008 after working on a number of high profile investment banking transactions at Morgan Stanley in London. He was previously Vice President at EFG Hermes Asset Management managing equity, balanced, and fixed income portfolios. Mr. El-Anwar holds an MBA from London Business School.

Mona Osman joined BPE Partners in 2009 after holding the position of the General Manager for Investments at Al-Ahly for Development and Investment (ADI). Ms. Osman spent 10 years in the Projects Department of Misr Iran Development Bank (MIDB) and is a founding and board member of the Egyptian Private Equity Association (EPEA). Ms. Osman holds a BA in Economics from the American University in Cairo.
Group Finance Director
Mostafa El-Bekpashy joined BPE Partners in 2007 and is responsible for all financial, accounting, and due diligence affairs of BPE Partners and its managed investment vehicles. Prior to joining BPE Partners, Mr. El-Bekpashy served as Finance Manager at Nile Valley Gas (British Gas – Venture). Mr. El-Bekpashy holds a BA in Accounting from Cairo University and an MBA from Arab Academy for Science & Maritime Transport.

Omar El-Labban joined BPE Partners in 2008 after working at Nile Capital as Investor Relations and Business Development Manager. Mr. El-Labban holds a BA in Economics from the American University in Cairo and an MBA from the University of Edinburgh Business School.

Salah Katamish joined BPE Partners in 2008 after holding a brand manager position at Henkel Egypt, where he was responsible for the Persil (detergent) brand in Egypt. Mr. Katamish holds a BA in Business Administration from the American University in Cairo and an MBA from London Business School.

Yehia Omar joined BPE Partners in 2014 after previously holding the position of Manager of Development and Engineering at Eurus Energy America. Mr. Omar holds a BS/BA in Mechanical Engineering from the University of San Diego.
